- pixelography (noun) : the use of computer software to accomplish artistic effects too difficult with film- and paper-based pigments or for photographers to achieve using traditional, in-camera techniques. Pixelography’s medium is the computer, not the camera or the airbrush. A pixelograph may include components appropriated from artwork created conventionally.
- Pixelographers create most advertising images today. As different from digital capture and file manipulation as shooting film in a camera is different from dodging and burning prints in a darkroom, pixelography more accurately describes the post-production manipulation of photographic images than the too broad term, “digital imaging.”
