(noun) : A situation in which a parent regards a piece of information or sound advice given by another yet discards the same given by their offspring. (related terms include spousal paradox, sibling paradox, progeny paradox)

John was vexed by an exhibition of a parental paradox, as his mother and father listened intensely while his collegiate friends gave accounts of college life. This incident led to John's becoming livid because he had previously given his parents identical accounts but was ignored.
