pack mentality (noun) : a way of thinking shared by a group of people in order to cause trouble or victimize others; similar to a pack of wolves, the members of the group usually follow a leader and are instigated by the actions of the other members

Even though Ralph was the one who beat Jack up, if it had not been for the other boys' pack mentality, the whole group would not have been expelled from school.
