garchum (noun) : \GAR - ch&m\ - the gap or opening in a snowbank, usually connecting a walking path and roadway, formed gradually by the multiple footsteps of pedestrians.

Despite the previous night's blizzard, a plethora of morning commuters crossed the street at that intersection, forming a well-packed garchum in the snowbank as early as 6am.
