(noun) : although not quite as popular as the air guitar, this is an imaginary set of drums that one pretends to play along to the drumbeat of a song

I noticed that the patrons sitting at the bar were divided into two types of people, those who play the air guitar and those who play the air drums. I fall into the latter of the two.
